Key Result

What is a Key Result?

A measurable indicator proving whether progress toward an Objective is actually happening.

A Key Result is the quantitative proof that an Objective is moving. It should be numeric, time-bound, and hard to misinterpret. A good Key Result measures movement in behavior, value, performance, or business impact.

Key Results should usually describe outcomes, not completed tasks. Shipping work may matter, but if customer behavior or business performance does not change, the Key Result has not been achieved.
Strong Key Result
Increase trial-to-paid conversion from 12% to 18% by the end of the quarter.
Weak Key Result
Launch the new pricing page. (That is an initiative, not a measurable result.)
